Hygienic cutting and conveyor belts until the end of the shift: With the sterilAir T2018, contact and smear infections of meat and fresh products are effectively prevented. Conveyor belts remain microbiologically safe even during multi-shift operations. This ensures a flawless product with good shelf life. The T2018 is high-pressure-waterproof (IP69K) and remains a fixed part of the cleaning infrastructure. The patented system stands out with its consistent hygienic design and robust construction. Nevertheless, the UVC lamp can be replaced in less than two minutes without any disassembly. The HACCP-compliant shatter protection and the independent power supply of the light sources impress users worldwide.

The UVC-Lock is a safe and sustainable solution for reducing surface contamination at zone transitions. sterilAir UVC modules deliver excellent disinfection performance with extremely short contact times – without additives or residues. This results in a compact design and makes the system suitable even for heat-sensitive products. The UVC-Lock enables 360° disinfection; the efficient assembly of the UVC emitters ensures an almost complete irradiation surface. The UVC-Lock is frequently used for disinfecting crates, tools, packaging materials (e.g. buckets or cans), and secondary packaging of food products (e.g. sausage sticks). The machine is a joint development by KRONEN and sterilAir and is manufactured by KRONEN according to specific customer requirements. The treatment of food products is subject to country-specific legal regulations.

Due to reuse, process and cooling water are susceptible to microbiological contamination. Ideal temperatures, long retention times, or the introduction of impurities often further promote germ growth. sterilAir immersion systems reliably reduce germs in water and prevent the growth of Legionella. By being positioned directly in the basin or tank, they also ensure clean surfaces without biofilm formation. This is a purely physical method: safe, sustainable, and residue-free. sterilAir immersion systems are an economical and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical disinfection methods and can be easily integrated into existing systems.

The UVR-XS is a 40% more compact version of the sterilAir original UVR-4K, specifically developed for rooms with low ceilings, multiple levels, or complex layouts. Airborne mold and yeast spores, bacteria, and viruses are reliably inactivated at a recirculation rate of 270 m³/h, rendering them harmless without leaving residues. Thanks to the intelligent CORE I control ballast, the UVC emitters used for air recirculation disinfection are continuously operated at optimal efficiency. This ensures an exceptionally high UVC dose and maximum disinfection performance with minimal space and maintenance requirements. With both UVC tubes fully shielded inside the unit (no measurable UV radiation at the air inlet or outlet in accordance with DIN 67506), the device can be positioned and used with maximum flexibility.

The UVR-4K is designed for air disinfection in rooms with low air exchange. Typical application areas for this sterilAir original include production and packaging rooms as well as cold storage facilities. Areas before and after ripening chambers are also equipped with the UVR-4K to prevent mold growth. The unit is ceiling-mounted and continuously disinfects the room air without posing any risk to staff or products. Thanks to its unique airflow design, the UVR-4K achieves an exceptionally high UVC dose with only four UVC tubes. This enables the device to inactivate even persistent mold spores and bacteria at a recirculation rate of 700 m³/h. High humidity and wet cleaning conditions pose no problem for the unit. It also meets the requirements of industry and trades and allows targeted assurance of air quality.

Dried meat, salami, and other cured or air-dried meat specialties—whether with or without noble mold—are prized for their unique flavor. However, the maturation process always carries the risk of mold formation and the growth of unwanted microorganisms. For this reason, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) also recommends the use of UVC technology in meat aging facilities (e.g., dry-aging rooms). sterilAir UVC devices provide effective air disinfection either in the overhead area or by treating recirculated air directly within the a/c or ventilation system. Bacteria, yeasts, and mold spores are safely and rapidly neutralized—without the use of chemicals or leaving any residues. This process has no negative impact on the product, even when desired cultures have been applied beforehand.

Microorganisms quickly form an undesirable microbial flora on the cooling coils/fins of room air coolers. As the devices are only cleaned periodically, a biofilm forms, which reduces the cooling capacity and increases energy consumption. In addition, components of the biofilm are distributed in the room by the air flow. Bacteria, yeasts and mould spores get onto products, machines and other critical surfaces. sterilAir ET modules are ideal for treating cooling fins due to their design and concept. The stainless steel protective tube bundles the UVC radiation specifically on the desired surface and provides protection from the cold. It does this without obstructing the air flow and thus reducing the efficiency of the cooler. When installed correctly, work and product safety is guaranteed without additional enclosure.

Packaging systems are often located at the end of production lines in the food industry, usually even at transition zones. In the meat industry and in the ready-to-eat sector, packaging systems are often not equipped with laminar flow / HEPA filtration. Despite this, the various packaging machines can only be cleaned to a limited extent and with great effort. Bacteria, yeast or mould spores are introduced by employees, through the air or via outer packaging and packaged directly with the product. The result: shorter shelf life, rejects and complaints. sterilAir ET modules for sterilising packaging materials: without liquids, heat or residues, treatment is carried out using optical radiation immediately before the packaging process, without slowing it down (HACCP, FDA and IFS-compliant).

Trays, cups or inserts are required for many products, but – if they are already contaminated – they shorten the product shelf life by accelerating product spoilage. If the trays are not formed directly on site, there is a risk of contamination during transport and handling. The solution: UVC surface disinfection from sterilAir. Project-specifically designed and suitably arranged ET modules ensure sterile trays and inserts. Targeted alignment to the desired surface maximises the effect and enables safe and lightning-fast disinfection.

Clean crates and containers are important, regardless of whether they are used for cutting or processing. But are the crates really germ-free after washing? In many cases they are not and this leads to cross-contamination, for example when cooked goods are temporarily stored unpacked in crates. With the E series, sterilAir offers a modular system that allows project-specific UVC installations for surface sterilisation. After the washing system or before filling, sterilAir modules can be integrated wherever they are needed. E2 crates, reusable containers and even polystyrene containers can be safely sterilised from bacteria and fungal spores without heat or chemicals.

Conveyor belts and other product-contact surfaces are cleaned regularly. Nevertheless, microbial loads can still build up during the production process. In addition, bacteria—including pathogens such as Listeria, Salmonella, and E. coli (STEC)—are frequently found indoors and on surfaces of production equipment. Contamination of food products can be easily and sustainably avoided with UVC disinfection. UVC modules, such as those from the sterilAir E series, eliminate microorganisms through physical means, ensuring hygiene and microbiological safety of surfaces during production. Practical applications include slicer systems, separator belts, injectors, and product presses.

In the processing of raw meat products, excellent hygiene conditions are essential for high product quality and a stable shelf life. The sterilAir E-Series not only offers a wide range of applications in air duct systems, but is also implemented by our OEM mechanical engineering partners to ensure top-level hygiene conditions. Handtmann integrates the EX module series into the intake section of its proven VF vacuum filler series. Here, sterilAir UVC technology ensures reliable air disinfection to eliminate all airborne microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses during the production process. sterilAir EX modules are so powerful that they not only prevent contamination during the filling process – the immense airflow also significantly improves the ambient air in the VF production environment.

The sterilAir EXB is a UVC module for flexible air and surface disinfection with “plug and play” installation. This low-maintenance device is ideal for rooms with high air exchange rates, such as washing or cooking areas, and reduces cleaning costs and contamination risks without the use of chemicals. The EXB creates a germicidal UVC radiation field in the overhead area, effectively preventing mold growth. At the same time, the passing air is continuously disinfected without affecting products underneath or occupational safety. It combines the advantages of conventional ceiling units with the flexibility of the sterilAir E series, meeting the specific needs of the food industry. Unlike periodic cleaning, the device continuously reduces microbial load during production and, thanks to its robust construction, is resistant to moisture and virtually maintenance-free.
